Art, industrial arts, fashion and so on.. going beyond many kinds of genres, the artist Hiroko Takahashi adds evolution to Japanese tradition. As you can see, she works using motifs, a circle and a straight line. It is a her challenge to pursue the possibility by using a less possible element. It is also a metaphor to live happily and simply without becoming useless. In the world where we can get anything we want, she put the message in order to find a little pleasure on our daily life. And one of her way to express , kimono gives us have a feeling that a birth of a concept of new Japanese style. メNot only to make a beautiful kimono which insist on the visual, but also I want to make my works to tell the things that were condensed by the kimono which has evolved under the consistent spiritualism. モ Hiroko says. In this exhibition, with photographs works of new kimono collection, the past of her kimono works which is expanded with circle and a straight line, white and black color. And also ROCKET limited goods will be sold.

Hiroko Takahashi / artist
After learned dyeing and weaving at Tokyo university of arts, graduated doctoral course. She worked for an apparel company as a designer. In 2005, she was invited by AFAA of French ministries of Foreign Affairs to work as an artist at The Cité Internationale des Arts. In March 2008, she received her Doctorate in Fine Arts from the university. In December 2006, she founded HIROCOLEDGE Co., Ltd. and started her product brand, HIROCOLEDGE as part of her art works. She designed national costume for Miss Japan/Universe, Riyo Mori. In August of the same year, she designed a costume for the rakugo (comic) storyteller, Karoku Yanagiya for the summer program "LUCKY LUCK SHOW" hosted by 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT at Tokyo Midtown, collaborations with Isetan Living and FUKUSUKE and so on. Her work is worthy of note.
